About the Author

I was the third and last child born to the union of Thurman and Bally Sue Edwards on August 2, 1971. I was also their third son. You know my mama was hoping for a girl on her last try and then here I come to dash all her lil’ old hopes and dreams. I assume she was so fed up with boys that she did not even want to name a third one, so my uncle Michael Edwards suggested, “Let’s name him Gary Bernard Edwards,” and there you have it

I was a star cornerback and running back on the best football team that Dallas Carter High School has ever had. Our team is, arguably, the best that has ever been assembled at the high school level, and surely the best defensive team anyone has ever seen at any level of play.

I was the focal point in Chapter 15 (Algebraic Equation) in the best selling book, turned motion picture and weekly miniseries Friday Night Lights. The book was authored by H.G. “Buzz” Bissinger. I currently reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth area where I am employed by the City of Dallas as an environmental specialist. Presently, I do motivational speaking, where my current platforms are youth groups, but not limited to that. I also am a volunteer youth head football coach in the area, for the Cedar Hill Saints.
